Avalon Attractions

Boardwalk

Avalon has a half-mile wooden boardwalk. It is located between 21st and 32nd Streets. The boardwalk runs along the beach in a residential area. There is a very small commercial area consisting of a pizza shop, ice cream parlor and arcade at 29th Street, as well as a restaurant at 32nd Street. Bikes are permitted on the boardwalk from 5:00 am – 10:00 am daily. Motorized bikes, skateboards, roller blades, scooters and mopeds are not permitted on the boardwalk at any time.

History / Museums

Avalon History Center – 215 39th Street

The Avalon History Center is operated by the Avalon Historical Society. This museum is located in the Avalon Free Public Library at 215 39th Street. The History Center’s collection includes thousands of photographs, objects, and memorabilia that tell the story of Avalon’s residents, places, and events. Displays also include a 1925 Avalon Lifeboat where visitors can get in and take photos. The Center plays an active role in promoting knowledge about Avalon’s history. There are many events to connect visitors to Avalon’s past, including a meeting every 3rd Thursday at 11:00 am for tea, cookies & a stroll down Avalon’s memory lanes. The History Center is open every day except Sunday, year-round.

Library

Avalon Free Library – 235 32nd Street

Library cards are available for free to residents and property owners.  All other cards are $20 per person.  The library provides free and open access to first class collections, services and programs that ispire, inform and enrich.

Mini Golf

Go Fish Mini Golf – 2418 Dune Drive

This sealife-themed course offers 19 unique holes, weekly specials, live music, open mic nights, and social media discounts.

Pirate Island Golf – 2738 Dune Drive

With 3 locations down the shore (Avalon, Ocean City and Sea Isle), each Pirate Island offers 18 holes that take you on a journey through theme-park like attractions of animated pirates, caves, waterfalls, suspension bridges, and pirate ships – a unique adventure for all ages.

Shopping

Avalon’s evolving shopping district offers an enjoyable downtown location to browse through unique shops or take a break from shopping to grab a bite to eat or have a drink. Located along Dune Drive between 20th and 33rd Streets, here you will find specialty boutique shops offering clothing, home décor and beach supplies as well as surf shops, art galleries and much more. Some of the seven-mile island’s best eateries are within these 13 blocks so make sure you plan a lunch or dinner either before or after your shopping excursion. And don’t forget to check out some of the side streets where additional shops and restaurants can be found.
