The South Jersey coast is home to beautiful beaches. All of the beaches here are located on barrier islands. If you are looking to visit the Jersey cape, we have all you need to know about the beaches here.
Barrier island beaches are flat, making them safe for surfing and boogie boarding. These beaches are famous for their velvety soft sand and family-friendly atmosphere. The barrier islands of South Jersey are bordered by the ocean to the east and the bay to the west. This means that there is a lot to do on and around the water. These are some of the many reasons people love the beaches of South Jersey.
Over the years, beaches on the South Jersey coast have succumbed to much erosion due to storms and normal wear. Efforts to replenish and rebuild the beaches occur every few years. Wildwood, however, benefits from its southerly location. Sand which erodes from Wildwood’s neighbors to the north gets redistributed along Wildwood’s coast, resulting in the growth of its beaches. In fact, in order to get to water’s edge in Wildwood, many people take a shuttle across the sand.
