It’s All About Community During National Night Out, August 6, 2019

National Night Out is an annual event that takes place across the country on the first Tuesday in August. This year, festivities are planned for tomorrow night, Tuesday, August 6.

The purpose of the event is to enhance the relationship between law enforcement and the community it’s sworn to protect and serve. On this night, community members come out to enjoy family-friendly events between neighbors and first responders to build a sense of community, allowing people to get to know each other better. National Night Out events include block parties, festivals, parades, barbeques and other community-centered events. It also includes demonstrations, seminars, youth events, exhibits and more by the first responders in order to better educate people about how to keep the community safe and free from violence, drugs and other crimes. Some of the positive results of community-based National Night Out events include an enhanced awareness of first responder resources and assistance including crime and drug prevention programs, strengthened relationships and a unified message that drugs, crime and violence are not tolerated in that particular community.

When you’re down the shore – regardless of whether you work or reside in a shore community, or you’re a shoobie or longer-term visitor – you are certainly protected by law enforcement, emergency medical personnel, firefighters, lifeguards and other first responders. Their job is to assure that your family is safe and that you’re able to enjoy your time without it being impacted by life-altering negative circumstances.

So get there out there and meet the people who have dedicated their lives on the domestic front to protect you and yours. We promise – you will come away from it feeling more connected to this great community of ours.
