All about the South Jersey Shore from Ocean City to Cape May

Things to Do in Strathmere

Strathmere is one of several small beach towns along the South Jersey shore. Ocean City lies to the north of Strathmere. To the south is Sea Isle City, Townsends Inlet, Avalon, Stone Harbor, Wildwood and Cape May. Each of these towns offers many things to do. These include free weekly activities, festivals, holiday events, themed weekends and attractions.

Strathmere is located on the north end of Ludlam Island. It is 3 miles from Sea Isle City. Ocean City is 7 miles to the north. Strathmere is mostly residential. There is no boardwalk here. There are a few restaurants and a beautiful beach. Both Sea Isle and Ocean City offer year-round events, free summer weekly activities and more. Therefore, Strathmere offers the best of both worlds – a laid back, beach environment with nearby proximity to events and attractions.

This town offers access to the beautiful bay where you can fish, boat and enjoy watersports. Watersports opportunities include kayaking, paddle boarding and more. In the evening, park along the main drag through town and watch the sun set over the bay. Afterwards, grab a nice dinner in one of Strathmere’s famous restaurants.

This is a great town to visit to enjoy free beaches. That’s right – no beach tags are required here. Because there are not many commercial establishments, Strathmere offers a true laid back beach experience.

Most events that take place on Ludlam Island are held in Sea Isle, so when you click on the below images, you’ll see a listing for all that’s happening on the island—just a short walk, drive, or bike ride away.
