Avalon New Jersey is the South Jersey beach town that’s “cooler by a mile”. This is because it is located on the barrier island known as “Seven Mile Island”. Named for the mystical island of King Arthur legend, this town is noted for its maritime forest and wild dunes that line the beach. They are the largest of their kind on the South Jersey coast.
Avalon is the northern most town on the island, sharing its home with Stone Harbor to the south. One of the best assets this town offers is a coastline of natural dunes and walking trails. It also features bike lanes throughout town for safe riding on the streets. Avalon has a small wooden boardwalk. It is not commercialized but instead offers a nice place for people to stroll by the sea.
